Progress Mfg. Welcomes Utah Manufacturers Association in Celebration of Manufacturing Day

This week Utah Manufacturers Association (UMA) visited Progress Mfg. with dozens of Utah-made Dunford Donuts.

UMA was en route visiting manufacturing companies across Utah, from St. George to Logan, to celebrate Manufacturing Day (October 5, 2018).

“Rather than a one-day deal to celebrate Manufacturing Day, we wanted to recognize and express appreciation to the employees of these manufacturing companies,” said Todd Bingham, UMA President. “They’re the reason Utah manufacturing thrives, and the reason we have the great products we do.”

Utah is home to 3,600 manufacturing companies across the state. A few include: Gossner Foods in Logan, Winder Farms in West Valley, Lifetime Tables in Clearfield, and Dunford Donuts in West Jordan. Utah manufacturing provides jobs for over 125,000 people and is a 20-billion-dollar industry for the state.

“Utah has the most diverse economy in the nation,” said Bingham. “As a registered lobbyist I work to motivate Utah lawmakers not to recruit the “cool” companies to Utah, but to bring companies that will fill gaps in the supply chain.”

Since 2013 American manufacturing has experienced exceptional growth. This growth is predominantly seen in four pockets of manufacturing – aerospace and aerospace parts, oil and gas, medical devices, and outdoor products.

Progress Mfg.’s Equal-i-zer® hitch and Fastway® Flash™ ball mounts have seen outstanding growth in the last few years and are part of the outdoor products pocket of manufacturing.

The Equal-i-zer hitch has been made in America for over 70 years. The highest quality materials travel from Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania to Utah for the machining, fabrication, and assembly of the hitch. With top-quality materials and family-focused employees it’s easy for Equal-i-zer hitch to provide a lifetime warranty on each hitch.

“I love being part of American manufacturing,” said Steve Binks, Production Supervisor. “I am part of the Flash production team, where we take long extrusions of aluminum and turn them into the strongest, lightest weight aluminum ball mounts in the country. It gives me such a feeling of fulfillment every time I drive on I-15 and see a ball mount that my team built pull a boat trailer, a horse trailer, or help create memories for families.”

Progress Mfg. Inc. is proud to be a member of the Utah Manufacturing Association and is excited to take part in the growth of manufacturing across America.
