The Insider’s Guide to the Angle Set Bolt

Congratulations! You own the safest and best performing hitch on the market. The Equal-i-zerĀ® hitch has been keeping families safe for over 70 years, and with proper maintenance and care, your Equal-i-zer hitch will last for generations. Keeping your hitch in top condition with a little bit of routine maintenance will make sure you get the best performance from your hitch.

One of the quickest and easiest things you can do to protect your hitch is to check and tighten the angle set bolt.

The angle set bolt is a single bolt underneath the hitch head that, when kept tight, unifies the head and the shank – eliminating any movement between the two. When the angle set bolt and spacer rivet are tight to the shank, they act like one solid unit to transfer weight through to the tow vehicle. If either are loose, you are putting undue stress on the shank bolts and hitch head.
